Some things change, some things do not change. One thing that does not change: high fructose corn syrup does not do it for me in root beer.
I received Iron Horse Root Beer from my root beer of the month club. (Sorry, they only have a Facebook page, not a website. Odd!) It is considered upscale, by its manufacturer. But upscale root beer has to be upscale. That means no HFCS - it means using actual sugar.
Iron Horse isn't bad. Its better than some. It just isnt upscale. It isnt what I expected. It has a nice flavor. After reading this description, "Today, Iron Horse Root Beer reaches the summit of refreshment. It unites the highest in cool taste and rich flavor," I was thinking this was going to be an 8 or 9 case root beer.
It doesn't have that craft taste about it. It doesn't seem like its upscale. It tastes like a mass produced root beer that I can buy at my local grocery store. And that was a disappointment.
Score on a scale of a 1 to 10 cases: 6 cases.
Let me know if you have had Iron Horse or can share more about this interesting root beer.
